What is going to happen to LPG prices? |
|
The Government is trying to reduce pollution and LPG has lots of environmental benefits. That is why LPG will stay a lot cheaper than petrol and diesel for the foreseeable future. The UK Chancellor endorsed the Government's long term commitment to LPG in the 2006 Budget. The result is that LPG pump prices will continue to be around half the price of petrol and diesel for the foreseeable future. The following specific measures were announced: Continuation of the three years advance notice on the fuel duty differential with petrol and diesel within the Alternative Fuels Framework first introduced in 2003. Continuation of a maximum reduction of only 1p per litre per year in the duty differential between LPG and petrol / diesel is continued into 2008/9. The current fuel duty on LPG is 4.5p per litre compared with 47.1p per litre on petrol and diesel Fuel duty increases for 2006/7 are deferred until 1st September2006. At this time it is proposed that the fuel duty on petrol and diesel will increase to 48.35p per litre and on LPG to 6.75p per litre. The future is wallet-friendly as far as LPG is concerned.
