The Running Cost of an LPG Car |

Converting to LPG is the first step to huge fuel savings. LPG only costs 46.9p per litre while petrol is reaching 99.9p in some parts of the UK. It’s easy to see that converting your car to run on LPG is an investment. Owning a car is expensive and fuel is not the only component towards cars running costs. The AA published a report in March 2006 outlining the total running cost of cars, including fuel costs, road tax, insurance, servicing, and breakdown cover. This report focused only on Petrol and Diesel vehicles, so Fuelture has decided to extend this report and include a breakdown of LPG car running costs. The following table shows the difference between LPG and Petrol based on a 2002 Vauxhall Vectra SRi doing 15,000miles per year.
The annual running cost of this LPG Car is £749.40 cheaper than the total running cost of the same make and model of car running on petrol. The cost of converting a Vauxhall Vectra would be £1959.90 (inclusive of VAT). It would take 2years and 7months to pay off the cost of the LPG Conversion based on these figures. The average length of car ownership is between 3 and 5 years. So someone keeping their car for 5 years after having an LPG Conversion would save a total of £2622.90 which could pay for your conversion on the new car and you would start saving straight away!
