Everyone knows that cars depreciate in price from the second that they are driven out of the showroom.  Many people are unsure what will happen to the resale value of a car that has been converted to an LPG system. 

By comparing two cars, both the same make, model, year, mileage, and engine size, with the only difference being one is petrol and the other is dual fuel LPG, we can access what happens with resale value after an LPG conversion.

The Cars

The cars are both a Vauxhall Astra, 2002, 1.6 litre engine with 16valve.  This car cost around £12, 000 when it was new.  The Petrol Astra has 34,000miles on it and the LPG Astra has 38,000miles on it time of selling.  The following table shows the mileage, the resale value and the source where this information was found for each car.

The Resale Value and Quality

The resale value on the LPG Astra is £604.00 more than the Petrol Astra.   When selling an LPG car you have more to offer to a buyer as you have added value to your vehicle, especially is you have a quality LPG system fitted.  Quality is a huge contributing factor towards the resale value of your car, a poor quality system which gives you and your car problems will make it difficult to sell your car.  Nobody wants to buy a car that doesn’t run well and has a lot of problems so make sure that you get a quality LPG system from a credible supplier.
